calcd sets no cookies. This page explains why there are none, and why that means you are never asked about them.

The calculators

Every calculator runs in your browser. It needs no cookie to work and remembers nothing once you leave the page. Reload it and you start from blank, which is the same reason we cannot save your figures for you.

Analytics, without storing anything

We use PostHog to count which calculators get used. It runs in cookieless mode, which means it writes nothing to your browser: no cookie, no localStorage, no sessionStorage. When you close the tab there is nothing left of you on this device.

Counting visitors without storing an identifier takes one on PostHog's side instead. It is worked out from your IP address, your browser's user agent and the site you are on, combined with a random value that changes every day and is deleted once that day is processed. The result cannot be turned back into your details, and because the random value changes daily it cannot link today's visit to tomorrow's.

Why there is no cookie notice

A site has to ask permission to store things on your device or read things back off it. calcd does neither, so there is nothing to ask about, and putting a notice on every page for a question that does not arise would be theatre. If that ever changes, the notice comes back before the storage does, not after.

What we measure, and what we do not

Alongside counting pages we count clicks: which links and buttons get used, where on a page people click, and which clicks land on nothing. All of it works the same way, storing nothing on your device and identifying nobody, which is why none of it needs a notice.

We do not record the page itself. There are no session replays, because a recording captures the figures on your screen, and that would need your permission. The parts of a page that show your own worked figures are also left out of click tracking entirely, so your result never reaches us even as the label of something you clicked.

The one thing we genuinely gave up is knowing you. Without an identifier we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one, and that trade was worth not asking every single person for permission.

No advertising cookies

We do not run advertising on the calculators, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever sell a placement, it will be an image served from our own site rather than an ad network's script, so it will not set a cookie either.

Managing cookies

There is nothing here to clear, but you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time and the calculators will carry on working. They run on your device and need no cookies at all.
